About Me

I work in the high-energy astrophysics department at the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IKI RAS) and I am a PhD student in astrophysics at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT). My research focuses on the X-ray emission from the central region of our Galaxy: combining deep observations from space-borne X-ray observatories β€” SRG/ART-XC and Chandra β€” with models of Galactic stellar populations, I study what this diffuse glow is made of. More broadly, I am interested in the evolution of the Universe as a whole β€” from its earliest epochs to the galaxies and large-scale structure we observe today.

Research Interests

Diffuse X-ray Emission of the Galaxy
I study what the diffuse X-ray emission of the Galaxy is made of β€” first and foremost in its central region, on the scale of the nuclear stellar disk. To that end I work with individually observed sources, primarily cataclysmic variables (CVs) and active binaries (ABs): I build their distributions from SRG/ART-XC hard X-ray survey scans and deep Chandra imaging, and test whether such sources, taken together, can account for the observed diffuse emission.

Cosmic Origins & Structure Formation
On the largest scales, I am interested in how the Universe evolved from the primordial plasma to its present-day structure: cosmic expansion, the growth of the first density fluctuations, and the formation of galaxies within the cosmic web. My own work is observational, but these are the questions that first brought me to astrophysics.
